July 23: City Stars: A guided astronomy night in NYC (8pm)

$45.00

Most New Yorkers never look up. Between the trains, the deadlines, and the glow of millions of windows, it's easy to forget there's an entire universe hanging overhead.

Join Wild Captives for an evening of urban astronomy and discover what most people walk beneath every night without ever noticing. Together we'll slow down, step outside the city rush, and learn how to find planets, constellations, and the moon using nothing more than the sky above us.

Led by professional astronomers from UrbanScopes, you'll learn how to navigate the night sky, hear the myths behind the constellations, and experience the strange feeling of seeing Saturn or the craters of the moon from the middle of Brooklyn.

The city never stops - but for a couple of hours, you'll remember how small it is.

Why July 23?

This isn't just an arbitrary date. Late July offers some of the best moon viewing of the summer, when the moon climbs high enough above the skyline for exceptional telescope viewing. Instead of catching a hazy glow near the horizon, you'll get a clear view of the moon's mountains, craters, and surface details from the heart of New York City.

Your ticket includes

• A guided astronomy experience led by professional astronomers from UrbanScopes

• Telescope and binocular viewing throughout the evening

• Learn to identify planets, constellations, and navigate the night sky on your own

• The stories, mythology, and science behind what you're seeing overhead

• A printed star map of that night's sky to take home

• Seasonal drinks (hot or cold depending on the weather_

• Wild Captives surprises, plus your first step toward earning your City Stars badge

No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity—and maybe someone you'd like to stargaze with. If not, you'll probably meet them here.

✨ Because adventure doesn't always mean leaving the city.

Thursday, July 23 • 8:00 PM Weather permitting. Rain dates: July 22 or July 24.
